IFPE 2005 - Perkins

More than 124,300 industry professionals from around the world attended the co-located IFPE 2005 and CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2005 trade expositions in Las Vegas, USA during the shows' five-day run March 15-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The shows featured the latest equipment, product innovations and technological advances of the construction, construction materials and power transmission industries. In addition to breaking the all-time record attendance number and setting a new record for international attendance, IFPE 2005 was also the largest in the show’s history in terms of exhibit space.

Perkins Engines is evolving its product support vision to better meet the needs of end users and to support the introduction of its new emissions-compliant 1100D Series engines.  The shift is in response to recent findings from customer research showing that equipment owners and operators have become increasingly demanding as competition stiffens in their marketplace.  Perkins product support team is putting the diverse buying criteria and high expectations of these customers central to their philosophy.

The customer need for increased productivity, consistency and speed of service is driving the service networks of both the OEMs and Perkins to deliver solutions directly to the engine whether this is a physical part, electronic technical information or engineering expertise.  Downtime is costly and unproductive and Perkins believes that increasing engine ‘uptime’ can be maximized by satisfying customers’ requirements at the point of need.

A number of initiatives are underway including next day delivery direct to the customer in the field with internet order tracking and delivery status so the end user can maximize productivity.  New efficiency metrics will drive logistics excellence by measuring real world performance (the total time taken from customer enquiry to problem resolution) rather than traditional warehouse measurement techniques
